Post 4: Finding Friendship

He was known as a loner his entire life. “What is the true meaning of a friend?” Jake would often ask himself that question. His classmates would make fun of him because he never talked to anyone. Though it seemed as if he was desperate for friendship, he refused to interact with the other students.

“I hate high school!”

Just as Jake was ready give up on making friends, a student named Dustin said, “Would you like be friends?”

Jake was shocked and didn’t know how to react.

Dustin was lonely for friends, also. He had hopes that the two of them could build a friendship out of their loneliness. Jake didn’t respond. Out of fear of never having a friend, Jake ignored Dustin.

“Yes, let’s be best friends!”

This everlasting black-hole that Jake was feeling is now starting to turn around. His new friendship helped him to become more outspoken. Jake finally knew what the true meaning of a friend is. He no longer hated high school.

Softly spoken, Jake said:

“Dustin, you are the true meaning of a friend.”

Post 3: A True Story of "The Computer Nerd"

As a child, The Computer Nerd enjoyed watching "The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." He would even go outside to play and imagine himself as the Power Rangers. The neighborhood he grew up in did not have other children, leaving him play only with his siblings. While his parents worked long hours, he was left to babysit his younger sister alone because his older brother was always gone. The Computer Nerd would cook for the two of them and watch popular television shows, together. The Computer Nerd and his sister, Ashley, grew a special bond.

Once he became a teenager, The Computer Nerd started hanging out with older brother, Phillip, more often. They would hang out at the mall together with their friends. Being mischievous, the two of them would always get into trouble. The Computer Nerd even stopped playing sports at school just to spend more time with his brother. They loved playing video games and would play for hours at a time. Ashley and The Computer Nerd were competitive towards each other in everything they did. Their older brother was more of a quite person and did not really compete with them.

After graduating high school, The Computer Nerd went to Spartanburg Community College, but quit after the first semester. He picked up extra hours at his job to help his parents with paying bills. Phillip had moved out on his own and Ashley was still in school. The Computer Nerd had no clue what he wanted to do with his life, nor did he have any career goals.

Several years later, The Computer Nerd was content with his job at Dollar General Distribution as an forklift driver. Ashley also worked there with him as a forklift driver. As usual, they competed with each other to see who was the better forklift driver. It helped them make the time at work go by quicker. At work, the two of them would race and at the end of their shift, they would compare their production. Sometimes Ashley would win, and sometimes he would win.

Ashley and The Computer Nerd were tired of the mistreatment from Dollar General, so they decided they were going to make a change. The two of them decided that they would go back to college and major in Computer Technology. Their main goal was to hack each other and brag about who is the better hacker. In May 2019, The Computer Nerd started his first semester at Spartanburg Community College. Ashley had plans on starting the following semester, but found out she was at stage 4 of stomach cancer. She did not get to go back to college because her health was declining extremely fast.

October 26, 2019, Ashley lost her battle with cancer. The Computer Nerd was depressed about his sister's death and was ready to give everything up. Knowing that Ashley would not want him to give up, he decided to dedicate his schooling for his sister. Everything he learned in, he was doing it for Ashley and himself. Every semester he made the Dean's List and would say, "This is for you, Ashley! Yes, we did it, together!" Finally, The Computer Nerd graduated from Spartanburg Community College. He received his AAS Degree in Computer Technology: Networking/Cybersecurity. The he said, "Ashley can you believe it? We finally got our degree! This is for you baby sister. Since you never got to see your dreams; for everything I touch you touch, for every step I take you take, for every breath I breathe you breathe." The Computer Nerd will always and forever keep his sister Ashley name alive.

I chose to us "The Hit Man" as my plot. I used this as my plot because it uses the traditional plot. I prefer the traditional plot because it makes for a good story telling. This type of plot allows the reader to follow the from their early years and so on. It gives the reader the opportunity to engage in part of the plot and follow them from start to end. This type of plot gives a better insight of the character and helps the reader gain a better understanding of the main character.

Post 2: Literature's Role in Cybersecurity

Literature is relevant to my major (Cybersecurity) and my career (Information Technology). While studying for Cybersecurity, students must read reports and write them as well. Literature will help me sharpen my analysis skills, even more. After studying and learning the uniqueness of literature, I can easily apply it to my major. Cybersecurity requires netiquette because it involves communicating in a professional manner. Literature will help evolve my communication skills to a higher and more intelligent level. Without literature it would be hard to succeed in my major because all the pieces of communication would not be in their proper places.

The IT field is the same way; communication is one of the most important elements in the field of Information Technology. My career is more than just fixing computers and troubleshooting networking issues. A major part of my career is communicating with end users. The communication can be talking to the end user over the phone or face-to-face, communicating through emails, or communicating through a ticketing system. No matter the communication type, documentation of the conversation and the process to solve the issue must be conducted. Literature will help my documentation process become smoother.

Since literature is basically proper communication, it is a must to learn because my career focus heavily on communicating with everyone. Literature will help me have a better understanding of what I am reading and how to properly analyze my readings. Also, since documentation is extremely important in my career, literature is the backbone. The more you read properly, the better you will become at writing properly. "Practice makes perfect!!!" The ONLY way we can perfect our literature skills is to continuously read and write.

Post 1: Marcus Smith Introduction

My name is Marcus Smith, and my major is Information Technology: Cybersecurity. In addition to having my AAS Degree in Computer Technology: Networking/Cybersecurity, I also have my Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). I work as an IT Support Specialist at The Charles Lea Center, located in Spartanburg, SC. Anything that deals with computers or technology, I am willing to research and learn more about it. My objective for this class is to enhance my writing skills even more because in the IT field documentation is extremely important. I plan to learn as much as I can in this course and utilize my knowledge with this awesome experience. I really get a kick out of watching shows like, "CSI" and expose their fake hacking. When I do that, my family tell me that I am just a "NERD!" Also, I enjoy watching crime shows and horror movies. If I set my mind to doing something, I refuse to accept failure as an option.

Post 15: Most Important Thing I've Learned - Literature

The most important thing that I've learned in this class about the literature we read is how to utilize my critical thinking more...
